What is Inventor? Inventor is a CAD program, Computer Aided Design, that allows you to create sketches into 3-D objects. It takes a 2-D sketch that you make on the program and then it allows you to turn it into a 3-D model, which you could later use to 3-D print. I will be using Inventor to create a Widget, which I then 3D print.
Here is are my sketches from my notebook
Steps
1 Roughly sketch out the shape of you widget on the X and Y plane
2 Dimension the sketch so that it is the correct size, should be same as sketch
3 After hitting finish sketch, extrude one inch
4 This is what the final widget should look like, it should be 1in by 1in by 1in

Here is me setting up my Maker Bot screen, Maker Bot preview screen, my widget printing out and my final printed widget
What I learned:
While using inventor I learned how to create 3D objects off a 2D plane. It helped me better visualize how 3D objects are made. I also learned how to work with both inventor and maker-bot software. Along with that I learned how to work with a 3D printer and set it up to get it ready for printing. Another thing that I learned from this introduction to Inventor/ 3D printing was how to work more efficiently so that I could get my work done on time. I learned and got better with using the weebly website to show what I'm making in IDEA.
